Who is your host, Afiya Madzimoyo?Afiya grew up in Independence, AL. between Montgomery and Selma. A civil rights baby, she has worked tirelessly to improve the economic and social realities for her people. Her interest and work in income taxes began in 1989 in Montgomery where she partnered with her husband, Wekesa, to form M&M FastTax. Their production (# of returns filed) this first year landed them in the top 10 of all the businesses who participated in the electronic filing program that year.
Afiya has reached the status of a Professional CSA:
- Consultant — always ready to hear the next tax question or challenge
- Strategist — creative and knowledgeable to see a strategy that is credible and legal
- Advocate — sensitive to the client’s situation and looking for relevant solutions
Afiya is also Co-Director of AYA Educational Institute and looks forward to continuing to build and support AYA and other independent African educational efforts.
She currently resides in the ATL, GA metro area along with her husband, Wekesa, and two daughters, Ife and Sarafina.
