After North Texas businesses were caught compromising the personal information of customers, the Texas attorney general and local police are reminding area entrepreneurs to shred documents or face stiff penalties.
Under Texas’ Identity Theft Enforcement and Protection Act, businesses can be fined $50,000 for each potential violation, officials said.
